Queen Elizabeth Names New Puppies After Beloved Family Member and Favourite Place

The Queen's love for dogs is well known and she has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign.

Last month, two new puppies arrived at Windsor Castle after Prince Philip was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery.

The names of the puppies have finally been revealed and they are extremely poignant and dear to the Queen.

According to The Sun, the Queen named one of her new corgi puppies Fergus, after her uncle who fell during World War One.

Fergus Beaus Leon was the Queen's maternal uncle who died in France during the war in September 1915 at the age of 26.

He was the older brother of Elizabeth Beaus Leon, the wife of King George VI.

In 1932, Lady Elizabeth Beaus Leon, the future , the Queen Mother, started a tradition by laying her bouquet on the grave of the unknown soldier at Westminster Abbey in memory of her brother Fergus.

Many royal brides have since followed this tradition, including in 2020, in 2018, and the Duchess of Sussex in 2017.

Before her death in 2002, the Queen Mother also requested her wreath be placed on the grave of the unknown warrior, a wish honoured at the Abbey.

The other puppy, reportedly bought from a breeder via the Pets4Home website for £2,650, was originally called Charlie but was renamed Muick after arriving at the castle.

Muick is named after a lake on the Queen's Balmoral estate in Scotland, where the Queen and her family are often pictured walking and having picnics during summer months.

The Sun Source said, “Loch Muick is one of her favourite places on the Balmoral estate and the loss of Uncle Fergus in the First World War is still honoured by the family.”

The Queen has always been a responsible dog owner and was very involved with the breeding of her dogs in the past, ensuring their health and wellbeing.

However, she once needed three stitches after being bitten by one of her own corgis.

In 1991, the monarch received a severe cut after attempting to break up a fight between her eight pets.

A report by the Daily Express at the time claimed that the monarch's chauffeur also had a trip to the A&E after becoming involved in the scrap.

Despite the incident, the Queen's love for dogs has never waned.

She has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign and has always been very fond of them.

The names of her new puppies are extremely touching and show her love for her family and favourite places.

Fergus and Muick will undoubtedly be cherished members of the royal family.

The arrival of the new puppies comes at a difficult time for the Queen, as Prince Philip remains in hospital.

The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the hospital for heart surgery last month and is still recovering.

The Queen has been keeping busy with her duties and has been receiving updates on her husband's condition regularly.

The Queen's love for dogs is well documented and it is no surprise that she has welcomed two new puppies into her home.

Fergus and Muick will undoubtedly bring joy and happiness to the royal family, especially during these difficult times.

The Queen's decision to name her new puppies after a beloved family member and a favourite place shows her deep connection to her family and her country.
