Royal Family Celebrates Easter at St George’s Chapel in Windsor

The royal family celebrated Easter this morning at St George's Chapel in Windsor, where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are due to wed on May 19.

Even Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge made the festive celebration, with pregnant Kate looking elegant in a classic dark coat and matching hat.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the last royals to arrive, driven down the hill to the chapel in a car, and going in a few minutes after the scheduled 10.45am start time.

However, the former Suits star and her husband-to-be were noticeably absent from the celebrations, which would have been Miss Markle's first Easter with the royal family.

According to Hello magazine, the lovebirds were most likely enjoying some downtime out of the public eye.

Palace officials say the royal couple have opted to celebrate the bank holiday in private and away from the public eye.

Markle and Harry did attend Christmas service with the royal family in Sandringham in December.

Several members of the royal family attended the Easter morning service with the Queen including Princess Eugenie, who will also marry at the chapel this year.

Other royals spotted attending the Easter service included Princess Beatrice, Prince Edward and his wife, the Princess Royal and her husband Vice-Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence led the royal family down the hill to the chapel, and were joined by Zara Tindall, Princess Anne's son Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn.

Prince Edward, the Countess of Wessex and their children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn, also attended the service.

However, the Duke of Edinburgh, who has effectively retired from royal duties, was absent from the service at the chapel.

Prince Philip's absence sparked fresh fears about the health of the Queen's consort, who is currently sporting a problem with his hip.

The church service is the latest event the 96-year-old Duke has been absent from in recent days.

The Queen, 91, briefly met local children after the church service, who presented her with a bunch of flowers.
