Meghan SAVED me: Harry says Duchess made him realize he was trapped
Harry and Meghan outlined uncomfortable conversations regarding the colour of their son's skin, lacking royal protection, and the extreme tensions that caused the Duchess of Sussex to consider suicide in a wide-ranging interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Prince Harry discussed how meeting and marrying Meghan Markle made him realize how “trapped” he was as a part of the royal family.
In a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey on CBS, Harry said, “I was trapped, but I didn't know I was trapped.”
In answer to a query from Winfrey, Harry said that he would not have quit the royal family if he hadn't married Meghan, but that their partnership exposed the royal life's constraints.
“I wouldn't have been able to,” Harry said, “because I myself was trapped.” “I didn't see a way out.”
Being “saved” by Meghan

When asked whether Meghan had “saved” him in the interview, Harry said, “Yes, without question. There was a bigger purpose, there was other forces at play, I think, throughout this whole process. I am the last person to think… but it's undeniable, when these things have happened, where the overlap is. So, yeah, without question she saved me.”
“I'm really so relieved and grateful to be out here, talking to you with my wife by my side,” he said later, ” Because I can't begin to imagine what it must've been like for [my mother] going through this process by herself all those years ago.”
The duke admitted, “It has been unbelievably tough for the two of us. .”
Meghan later refuted Harry's allegation that she “saved him.”
Meghan said, “I think he saved all of us. “He ultimately called it, and said we've got to find a way. And you made a decision that certainly saved my life, and saved all of us And you made a choice that spared my life, as well as the lives of all of us.”
When Winfrey expressed disappointment that Harry, who was “raised in a palace and a life of privilege, and literally a prince” felt this way, the royal went on to clarify that he felt “trapped within the system, like the rest of my family are.”
“My father and brother are trapped,” Harry said.
The Prince also discussed his new relationship with his father, who he said had stopped answering his calls at one stage, and William. When asked about his father, Harry hesitated for a long time before answering, clearly moved, “There's a lot to work on there.” I feel really let down because he's been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. And Archie's his grandson. But at the same time, of course, I will always love him.”
He had even less to talk about William, saying instead, “I love William to bits. He's my brother, we've been through hell together. We were on different paths.” When Oprah followed up later, Harry clarified “The relationship is space, at the moment. ”
The Duke of Sussex also said that the couple's decision to sign multimillion-dollar commercial deals with Netflix and Spotify was motivated by the desire to provide for his family's welfare.
“I've got what my mum left me, and without that we would not have been able to do this,” he said.
“During Covid, the suggestion by a friend was, ‘What about streamers?' So, there were all sorts of different options. And look, from my perspective, all I needed was enough money to be able to pay for security to keep my family safe.”
