Will Smith confirms he has extramarital affairs amid ‘open marriage’ to Jada Pinkett Smith

Will Smith has spoken up about his and Jada Pinkett Smith’s rocky marriage ahead of the November release of his self-titled biography.

August Alsina, 29, disclosed in the summer of 2020 that he’d previously had an affair with Pinkett Smith, 50, which the married pair acknowledged days later when they appeared together on her show, Red Table Talk.

Following weeks of speculations about their connection, and years of conjecture regarding reports that Will and Jada, 50, had an open marriage, this came up.

And, after speaking openly about Pinkett Smith’s “entanglement” with Alsina during a break in their marriage, Smith, 53, revealed more specifics about their relationship, saying that the actress isn’t the only one who has had extramarital affairs.

Smith and his wife “never believed in conventional marriage,” he told British GQ.

Will admitted to the interviewer that he and Jada had had sexual interactions outside of their marriage with mutual consent during the unusually honest chat.

Following an altercation on Pinkett Smith’s 40th birthday, Smith stated that while their relationship was initially monogamous, they gradually opened up after recognizing they were “both miserable and clearly something had to change”

‘Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship,’ he stated. ‘So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up. There were significant, endless discussions about “What is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple?”’

‘And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.

“We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way,” the Focus actor continued. “And marriage for us can’t be a prison. And I don’t suggest our road for anybody. I don’t suggest this road for anybody.”

“But the experiences that the freedoms we’ve given one another… and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.”

The Smiths have been married since 1997 and have two children, Jaden and Willow, whom they met on the set of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

During an episode of her Red Table Talk web series, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed her relationship with Alsina, 29, while Will Smith has been tight-lipped about his own affairs.
