Prince Harry’s Ex-Biographer Urges Him to Speak Out Against Netflix’s “Abusive” Diana Musical

Angeline Levin, the ex-biographer of , has called on the Duke of Sussex to speak out against Netflix's latest production, Diana, the musical.

The show has been criticized for its depiction of and her personal struggles, including self-harm and infidelity.

Levin, who wrote the book Harry, Conversations with the Prince, shared her thoughts on GB News, stating that should take issue with the “abusive” project and talk to Netflix about it.

She also criticized the Duke of Sussex for remaining silent, despite his reported $100 million deal with the streaming giant.

While Prince Harry has not commented on the musical, he has previously tried to avoid conflict between his Netflix deal and the streaming giant's portrayal of his family in The Crown.

In an interview with James Corden earlier this year, he stated that he was more comfortable with The Crown's fictionalized account of events than with news stories about his own life.

However, Levin argues that the situation with Diana, the musical is different, as it directly affects his mother's legacy.

During her interview on GB News, she revealed that during her interviews with Prince Harry for her biography, he expressed regret over not doing enough for his mother and feeling like he didn't understand everything at the time.

Levin believes that Prince Harry should use his platform and influence to speak out against the musical, stating, “Here is an opportunity to do something and say, ‘You know, I'm not standing for this, you can't do this, it's abusive.'”

The musical, which opened on Broadway last year but closed shortly after due to the pandemic, is set to reopen in early November.

It has been criticized for its fictionalized scenes, including an opening sequence in which Diana is encouraged to meet by his girlfriend, Parker Bowles.

Critics have also taken issue with the show's portrayal of Diana's struggles with mental health and self-harm, as well as its depiction of her relationship with James Hewitt.

Levin argues that Prince Harry, who has been open about his own struggles with mental health, should take a stand against the show's harmful content.

While Prince Harry has not responded to the criticism, his spokesperson did not reply to queries from the press about whether he felt any tension between his Netflix deal and the streaming giant's decision to air the musical.

Levin suggests that Prince Harry's silence may be due to his newfound focus on financial gain, stating, “Money is very important to him now and he seems to have lost the strength to make decisions of his own.

He is much happier letting Meghan do that and following in her footsteps.”

Despite the criticism, Diana, the musical is set to reopen on Broadway next month, with a score by Tony winners Joe DiPietro and David Bryan.

The production has been met with mixed reviews, with some praising it for its catchy music and energetic performances, while others have criticized it for its inaccurate and harmful portrayal of .

In conclusion, while Prince Harry has remained silent on the issue, his ex-biographer has urged him to speak out against the harmful content of Diana, the musical.

As a public figure and advocate for mental health, Prince Harry has the platform and influence to make a difference and stand up against abusive portrayals of his mother's legacy.

Whether or not he chooses to do so remains to be seen.
