Prince Harry’s Memoir: A Royal Mistake or a Personal Triumph?

Prince Harry has once again found himself in the midst of controversy, this time over his decision to publish a memoir.

The Duke of Sussex announced on Monday that he would be writing a literary memoir detailing the highs and lows, the mistakes, and the lessons learned in his life.

However, the hosts of Australian Network Seven's The Morning Show were not impressed by his choice to stick with his royal titles to promote the book.

In a press release, Harry stated that he was writing the book “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.”

But co-anchors Larry Emder and Kylie Gillies couldn't help but share a giggle at his choice of words.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford also found it amusing, saying, “Talk about having it both ways.”

All three hosts were in disbelief that Harry had decided to write the book while the Queen is still alive.

They also questioned why he had chosen to use a major publishing house like Penguin Random House to get the word out, despite vowing to work only with grassroots media organizations and up-and-coming journalists.

Ford pointed out that Harry had pledged to work with grassroots organizations, but the memoir was being officially announced by Random House and Oprah.

He added, “We're off to a great start on that pledge, aren't we?”

The hosts further speculated whether Harry had told the rest of the royal family that he was planning to write the book.

They also wondered if he had been working on it since last year alongside a ghostwriter.

Although it is not certain, it has been speculated that the Duke will receive an advance of around $20 million for the memoir.

This fresh criticism comes as nearly 50,000 people signed an online petition last month, pleading with the Sussexes to voluntarily request the Queen put their royal-style titles and rank in absence.

Lady Colin Campbell, who helmed the petition, believes that Harry's decision to retain his royal titles while promoting his memoir is hypocritical.

While some may see the memoir as a personal triumph for Harry, others view it as a royal mistake.

The Duke has faced backlash in the past for his decision to step back from his royal duties and move to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle.
