The Queen Cries as Prince Charles Takes Over Her Role at Remembrance Service

As the Prince of Wales took over her role at the Remembrance Service, Her Majesty could only watch from a balcony.

The Queen had carried out the duty of laying the wreath at the Cenotaph in London for decades, but this year, she gave up the responsibility to her son.

The event was watched by a huge TV audience, and in a rare display of emotion, the Queen shed a tear.

Body language expert Judy James revealed to Daily Star Online the exact reason she believes the Queen’s brave face gave way to tears.

According to James, the Queen’s tears signaled the many pressures she must have been under.

Not only did she see the veterans from a view that must have put their numbers into context, but she was also watching her son act as her replacement while she is still alive, a dreadfully poignant view of the future that thankfully us lesser mortals rarely get confronted with.

The frail look of her husband Prince Philip, who struggled to stand next to her and had to lean against a wall, also added to the Queen’s emotions.

Judy described how the Queen struggled to contain her emotions as she stepped out onto the balcony tentatively, possibly aware of the wave of emotions that must have been about to engulf her when she saw the view below.

The Queen managed her usual stoic facial expression for several minutes, standing with her eyes dipped and her mouth pulled into a firm mouth clamp that suggested she was struggling with her feelings.

Her slight head tilt as they played the national anthem could have been an attempt to sustain her composure, but when the tears appeared in her right eye, we caught a glimpse of her true feelings.

The clamped expression vanished for a moment, and her eyebrows puckered into a steeple of utter sadness that mirrored the one her eldest son normally wears.

Her lower lip dropped to reveal teeth, and this micro expression was quite shocking when seen in contrast to the tightly controlled expression she had adopted before and after.

It was a poignant moment for the Queen, who has always been known for her stoic demeanor.

The Remembrance Service is a significant event for the British monarchy, and the Queen has always taken her role seriously.
