Queen Elizabeth defied royal protocol to support Meghan Markle’s acting career
Queen Elizabeth went out of her way to accommodate Meghan Markle and her entertainment career, which the Duchess subsequently squandered.
According to recent sources, the 94-year-old monarch assured Meghan that she should continue acting after she became a royal, but Meghan did not offer it “enough thought.”
“The royal family gave them the opportunity to go wherever they pleased,” biographer Andrew Morton said on the Royally Obsessed podcast.
They were given a degree of latitude. They were told ‘here are your first class tickets, pick which country you want to go to, we're going to make you youth ambassadors for the Commonwealth ,' they were told.
“And also, they did say to Meghan if you don't want to embrace royal duties full time please be our guest and continue your acting career. Those opportunities were open to her ,” Morton said.
“I think neither of them gave it the thought they should have done,” the specialist said of Harry and Meghan's exploration of the possibilities open to them.

Queen invited Meghan's mum for royal christmas
Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle's mum, found time for tea with the Queen in the days leading up to the wedding.
Doria clearly won the Queen's confidence during this period, as The Daily Mail reports that Queen Elizabeth extended an incredibly unusual invitation to Meghan Markle's mother to spend Christmas with the royals, an offer that has never been extended to Kate Middleton's relatives.
According to a family source, the invitation is a “mark of [the Queen's] respect” for Meghan, acknowledging that she has no family in the United Kingdom.
