Queen’s family couldn’t comfort her, Royals were told were told ‘you need to leave’ after funeral

Mike Tindall has revealed some sad information about Prince Philip’s funeral, which was held under strict social distancing protocol.

According to Mike Tindall, mourning royals were told “you need to leave” after Prince Philip’s funeral due to Covid laws.

Zara Tindall, a retired England rugby player married to the Queen’s granddaughter, claims Philip might have approved of the “beautifully done” service held under Covid-19 restrictions.

He was one of the 30 guests invited to join the military service at Windsor Castle on April 17.   The solemn service, which took place in St. George’s Chapel and was conducted by the Dean of Windsor, lasted just 50 minutes and was entirely inaccessible to the public.

“After the funeral it was sort of, ‘you all need to leave’, so you didn’t even get to have that supportive side afterwards,” he told Good Morning Britain.

Mike Tindall, commenting on the moving sight of the Queen seated alone, said: “That’s what the Queen does, she leads by example. Amazing to see, but I didn’t really want to see it.

“The way that the funeral was planned and run was exceptional and for Zara it was seeing his carriage ponies and the gloves and the sugar cube box and all that lined up.

“If he was looking down, being in the middle of the pandemic when it was a bit more lowkey, he would’ve been more happy with that even though the rest of us would’ve liked more of a celebration but that’s the sort of man that he was.”

Mourners were seated separately from one another, with only families from the same household able to congregate together.

The Queen, who turned 95 on April 21, was photographed seated alone in the 14th-century church pews, bidding her late husband farewell. The moving picture elicited an outpouring of affection for the bereft queen, as well as praise for her unwavering self-reliance.

Mike admired the Queen’s fortitude in the midst of such tragedy, but acknowledged it was painful for him to see.

“Having to see the Queen make a stand in terms of having to show what the world is at the moment and sit on her own and be as brave as she was, I thought just summed up her up as a lady. She was amazing.,” he told BBC Breakfast on Friday.

“Then the funeral finished and it was ‘Get in your cars and go home’, but that is what is allowed, that is what the rules state, so that is what happened.

The former athlete also praised the funeral’s organization, finding the whole thing ‘exceptional.’ He was particularly moved by the moving homage to Prince Philip’s love of horses, which included a line-up of “carriage ponies, gloves, and the sugar cube box.”

On the day of Prince Philip’s funeral, Mike posted a candid picture of him and his great-granddaughter Mia.
