Prince Harry’s diminishing role in the Royal family may be further reduced if Lady Louise Windsor decides to become a frontline working member.

The Duke of Sussex has already been stripped of his Royal titles and roles since he and Meghan Markle stepped back as Senior Royals last January.

These included several honorary military roles such as Captain General of the Royal Marines and Commodore-in-Chief, small ships and diving in the Royal Navy.

Lady Louise Windsor, who turned 18 yesterday, has kept a largely private role until now.

However, she must now decide whether she wants to continue this or begin taking up increasing amounts of public duties as a member of the Royal family.

If she decides to become a senior member of the Royal family and take on Royal duties, Lady Louise may fill a gap left by Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew.

Lady Louise, who has been dubbed the Royal family's secret weapon after charming viewers during a documentary on Prince Philip's life, has yet to publicly announce her decision.

But should she decide to follow in the footsteps of her grandmother the Queen, she would likely be offered the role of Councillor of State.

This is understood to be one of the last remaining duties that Harry, 37, will be stripped of.

Therefore Lady Louise could be only days away from replacing her older cousin in the role.

The daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie is 16th in line to the throne.

An insider has said that regardless of her decision, the teenager is likely to continue studying for her A-levels before going on to university.

This would limit the number of engagements she would be able to undertake.

With the Royal family short of working members after losing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex followed by Prince Andrew, Lady Louise would be a welcome addition.

The Queen is reportedly knackered and has been told by doctors to carry out light duties after she covered 19 occasions in October.

Sophie Wessex, Lady Louise's mother, explained how she and her husband Prince Andrew have tried to give Louise a normal upbringing.

She said, “She's working hard and will do A-levels.

I hope she goes to university.

I wouldn't force her, but if she wants to.

She's quite clever.

We try to bring them up with the understanding that they are very likely to have to work for a living.

Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles.

They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but it's highly unlikely.”

Last month, Lady Louise made her public speaking debut in a BBC documentary to pay tribute to Prince Philip.

In the film, Lady Louise spoke fondly of her grandfather, saying, “The Duke of Edinburgh has been so involved in my driving which has been so lovely but slightly scary because he invented the sport pretty much.

It's incredible to have learned first hand from him and definitely made us closer, I think.

After a competition, he would always ask how it went.

His eyes would light up because he just gets so excited when he talks about it.

When we would go carriage driving, first of all, he would take me on a different route every day.

I do not know how he managed to do that, but tell me all sorts of anecdotes about absolutely anything and everything.

He's honestly one of the most interesting people I've ever met.”

Discussing the Duke of Edinburgh awards that her grandfather pioneered, Lady Louise added, “I'd always wanted to do it because of the skills you develop as a result.”

It remains to be seen whether Lady Louise will pursue a more visible role within the Royal family, but if she does, she may be able to fill the gap left by Prince Harry's departure.

The Royal family is in need of working members, and Lady Louise's potential addition to the team could be a welcome one for the Queen and the rest of the family.
