Meghan Markle’s Royal Lineage: Could She Be a Princess After All?

It seems that 's fiancée, , may have royal blood after all.

According to a researcher at the New England Historic Genealogical Society, Miss Markle is a direct descendant of King Edward III, who ruled England from 1327 to 1377.

This news comes as a surprise to many who had assumed that Miss Markle had no royal connections.

The genealogist, Gary Boyd Roberts, traced Miss Markle's lineage through an early immigrant to Boston, the Rev.

William Skipper, who arrived in New England in 1639.

Skipper was a friend of Oliver Cromwell and studied at Cambridge University.

He was also the great-grandfather nine times removed of Miss Markle.

Another historian, Michael Reid, discovered that Skipper had attended Sydney Sussex College in the early 1600s and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts at the same time as Cromwell.

This connection is significant because Miss Markle could potentially gain the title Duchess of Sussex after she marries .

Nicholas Rogers, college archivist at Sydney Sussex, confirmed that Skipper had graduated in 1618, the same year as Cromwell.

Unlike Cromwell, Skipper stayed the course and finished his degree.

He then emigrated to America after marrying his second wife Sarah Fisher.

Miss Markle is descended from his daughter Jane, by his first wife.

In a previous investigation by the Mail on Sunday, it was revealed that Miss Markle and Prince Harry are distant cousins, related from a late 15th century ancestor of the Queen Mother.

Mrs Markle's connection to the royal family comes from the forebears of her father Thomas Markle.

They can be traced all the way back to an Englishman called Ralph Bowes, Meghan's ancestor from 15 generations ago.

Bowes was a high sheriff of County Durham, whose family seat was Streetland Castle with his extensive estates.

His granddaughter Bridget Bowes became a dutiful wife to John Hussey, of Dorking, Surrey.

His grandson, Christopher Hussey moved to America in 1632, helping to found Nantucket, Massachusetts.

And this is the line of the family that would eventually produce Meghan.

Miss Markle's royal connections don't end there.

She is also related to eight American presidents and dozens of other notable Americans, including actors James Dean and Roy Rogers.

It remains to be seen whether Miss Markle will officially become a princess after she marries Prince Harry.

However, her royal lineage certainly adds an interesting twist to the fairytale romance between the American actress and the British prince.

The news of Miss Markle's ancestry has sparked renewed interest in genealogy and the royal family.

It also highlights the importance of understanding our own family histories and the stories that connect us to the past.
