Prince William to Represent Queen on First Official Trip to Dubai

Kensington Palace has announced that is set to represent the Queen on his first official trip to Dubai.

The Duke of Cambridge will visit the city on February 10th to participate in events showcasing talent from across the UK.

This trip is being made at the request of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, and will be his first major overseas visit since the 2019 Tour of the Middle East.

During his visit to Dubai, will highlight the bond between the UAE and the UK.

The UAE is among the nations Britain has been looking at for trade deals as part of its post-Brexit strategy to create new ties around the world.

The Duke will also use this trip as an opportunity to engage with young Emirates, leaders from government and conservationists, Kensington Palace said.

The visit will also provide an opportunity to showcase the Earthshot Prize on the world stage.

The Duke launched this initiative in October 2020 in a bid to inspire and promote workable solutions to the five biggest issues the planet is facing.

Prince William's trip to Dubai will coincide with the official beginnings of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen is the first ever British sovereign to mark 70 years on the throne.

The monarch ascended to the throne on February 6, 1952, in the wake of the death of her beloved father King George VI.

The Duke will visit Expo 2020 Dubai, which is being temporarily taken over by UK National Day.

UK talent will be featured during the event which will also showcase the Commonwealth Games 2022 baton relay, launched by the Queen from Buckingham Palace last October, as it parades through the Expo site to visit Commonwealth National Pavilions.

Britain has had strong ties with the UAE for almost 200 years.

Prince William's visit to Dubai will be an opportunity to strengthen these ties and highlight the bond between the two countries.

The Duke, who has never travelled to the United Arab Emirates for work, will visit the city on February 10th to join events showcasing talent from across the UK.

His trip is being made at the request of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office.

The visit provides an opportunity to showcase the Earthshot Prize on the world stage, the palace added.

Earlier this week, Prince William stepped out of Kensington Palace twice alongside his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, who will not accompany him to Dubai.

On Wednesday, Catherine and William visited the Foundling Museum, which tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, to learn more about the care sector and meet representatives from across the system.

The pair also spoke with some of the people with direct experience of living in care.
