The Grufalo: Prince William’s Bedtime Story for His Kids

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has shared the bedtime story he reads to his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

During a visit with the book's author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler on Monday evening, the proud dad revealed that The Grufalo was a hit with his young children.

The meeting took place at the Tuscarino Trail outside his home in Kensington Palace, where the duo decorated one of 21 model rhinos with characters from their book The Ugly Five as part of a project to raise awareness of the critical threat facing rhino populations at the hands of poachers.

Prince William expressed his admiration for the model, which featured some of their best-loved characters.

He later admitted that he needed no introduction when he met with the pair.

Prince George, who was present at the meeting, recognized the authors and said, “I know who you are.

It's a big hit in our household, the Grufalo.”

The young prince added that he could see the model rhino from the windows of his home.

“It's amazing, I love it.

You can tell it's you guys.

It's the eyes of the animals I think, you can always tell the eyes.”

During the visit, Prince William also joked that it was a good thing his eldest son, Prince George V, didn't know the rhino was for sale, otherwise, he would be keeping an eye on it.

The father-of-three spent 20 minutes having a tour of the Tuscarino Trail, which features 21 model rhinos decorated by artists for charity.

The models are currently on public display at locations around London, but will be sold at a Christie's auction on October 9 to raise money for Tusk, of which William is patron.

The Duke of Cambridge was impressed by the models and expressed his admiration for the work done by the artists.

“It's amazing,” he proclaimed, as he walked around the small temporary display outside the palace.

“They're brilliant, very good.

I hope it's created some debate.”
