Catherine and Prince William to Inherit Windsor Castle When Prince Charles Becomes King

Reports have emerged that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William will inherit Windsor Castle when Prince Charles becomes king.

The reason for this is that Prince Charles plans to move into Buckingham Palace, which he believes is where the monarch should reside.

According to an unnamed source, “HRH's view is that you need a monarch at monarchy HQ.

This has never been in doubt.”

Prince Charles reportedly finds Windsor Castle too noisy due to its location under Heathrow Airport's flight path.

Therefore, the Cambridges, who currently reside at Kensington Palace and also spend some time at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, will inherit the castle in Berkshire instead.

Last year, it was reported that Catherine and William were considering relocating to Windsor to be closer to the queen and royal decision-making.

A move to Windsor would also bring them nearer to Catherine's family, who live just 30 miles away in Bucklebury.

A source at the time said, “Anmer Hall made sense while William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia and it was useful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn't really work anymore.

It's a little too far away for weekends, but Windsor is a perfect compromise.

They are eyeing up options in the area.”

It was previously reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to move to Windsor Castle for a bigger space to grow their family after their royal wedding in 2018.

However, Queen Elizabeth II found the proposal inappropriate as the castle has been home to British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years and is also the monarch's official residence.

Instead, the queen offered the Sussexes the Frogmore Cottage.

Last week, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 70th anniversary on the throne, becoming the first British monarch to reach such a remarkable milestone.

To mark the momentous day, the queen kept pictures of her beloved family close.

As she celebrated at home in Sandringham, Norfolk, the queen gave royal fans a glimpse into her celebrations with a series of pictures and videos taken at Windsor.

Notably missing from the photo line-up are the Cambridges' three children, Meghan Markle, and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall.

However, in her Ascension Day statement, the Duchess of Cornwall received the blessing of a lifetime from the queen.
