Duchess of Cambridge Wears New Pendant Crafted from Princess Diana’s Jewellery Collection

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has been compared to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, for years.

Fans love comparing their fashion choices, which may annoy the Duchess, but it's done out of love.

During her and Prince William's first audience at Buckingham Palace since the start of quarantine, it was discovered that the Duchess was wearing a new pendant crafted from her late mother-in-law's favourite jewellery collections.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena Zelenska on behalf of the Queen in an opulent throne room at Buckingham Palace.

During the meeting, the Duchess matched her blue-belted dress perfectly with her sparkling jewels.

She wore her dazzling sapphire and diamond drop earrings with her sapphire engagement ring and the latest edition, a new striking sapphire and diamond pendant necklace.

The dazzling piece, which has never been seen before, features a sapphire surrounded by diamonds suspended from a smaller pendant made in a similar design.

Kate wore the piece on a very fine gold chain.

The pendant has likely been refashioned from the same suite of jewellery as Kate's earrings, which also have seen a redesign from their original form and which she has worn on numerous occasions.

The origins of the hand-me-down sapphires date back to 1981 when Princess Diana was gifted a magnificent set of jewellery by the Saudi royal family as a wedding gift.

They were made to match perfectly with Diana's sapphire engagement ring, now worn by Kate.

The wedding present from the Saudi royal family, Princess Diana's, the Saudi suite set includes an enormous Burmese sapphire and diamond pendant, suspended on a thin diamond necklace, matching earrings, ring, bracelet, and watch.

William gave them to Kate after their engagement in 2010.

Diana, who famously loved sapphires, wore the entire set to a Brisbane state reception in 1983, but also experimented with each item separately.

However, this wouldn't be the rare time that Kate has worn Princess Diana's jewellery.

At the 72nd British Academy Film Awards last year in London, Kate wore the same diamond and sapphire earrings as the late Princess Diana.

The Duchess of Cambridge has also worn Princess Diana's lovers' knot tiara on multiple occasions, including to an evening reception held at Buckingham Palace in December of 2019.
