It was dubbed as William's Super Bowl moment.

Such behaviours are incredibly uncommon for the couple.

At public events, they normally maintain a small distance, like they did at the eco-friendly award photo call.

William put his hand on his wife's back as they leaned in close to converse.

Catherine definitely went over and beyond, bucking her more conservative fashion tendencies to still the show in a vibrant green dress.

In keeping with the theme of the evening, the Princess chose to wear a rented design from a brand called Solace London, which she got from an online designer rental platform.

Catherine added plenty of bling to her look in the form of a stunning diamond and emerald choker that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, .

The dazzling art deco choker, which is believed to be worth more than $14.8 million, was gifted to Diana by the Queen, who herself inherited it from her grandmother, Queen Mary.

Diana wore the choker on a number of occasions, even pairing it with a green off-the-shoulder gown.

She looked just like Catherine when she attended a glittering event in London back in 1993.

Catherine added some more sparkle to the look with a pair of matching Asprey diamond emerald earrings, which she is understood to have recycled from her own collection, in keeping with the sustainable theme of the event.

Having encouraged guests at the Earthshot Gala to wear vintage, reused or second-hand clothing, Catherine set a shining example by sporting designer shoes, which she has worn on a few occasions in the past, including at a reception in the Bahamas during the Wales' Caribbean tour in March of this year.

Friday's event marks the second time that Catherine has chosen to wear jewelry belonging to her late mother-in-law upon her and William's arrival in the US on Wednesday.

The princess sported some diamond and sapphire earrings that her late mother-in-law once owned.

When the Prince and Princess of Wales arrived at the event, they were greeted in Hollywood style by applauding crowds who shouted encouragement as they got out of their hybrid Range Rover, which was chosen especially to meet the eco-friendly theme of their trip.

Before entering the hall, where they were met with a standing ovation from other guests, Catherine and William made their way down the green carpet, stopping a few times to speak to other guests.

Members of the Earthshot Council, including Hannah Jones, John Kerry, Ms Naomi Yamazaki, Hundoo Ibrahim and Lindren Nui, joined them inside.

The Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony was a resounding success, with Prince William's initiative receiving widespread praise.

The awards aimed to find solutions to combat climate change, and the event itself was designed to be as sustainable as possible.

With the Prince and Princess of Wales leading by example, guests were encouraged to wear vintage, reused or second-hand clothing.
