Prince William and Catherine Become Prince and Princess of Wales
Prince William and Catherine have been formally recognized as the Prince and Princess of Wales by King Charles III.
This makes Catherine the first person to hold the title since Princess Diana.
On September 9th, King Charles made his first address to the British people since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
In his speech, he referred to the new roles and titles given to members of the family, including Camilla being confirmed as his Queen Consort.
Speaking of William and Catherine, King Charles said, “As my heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me.
He succeeds me as the Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.

Today I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Traiweisog Cormorough, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life in duty.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have expressed their opinions on the new titles given to them.
According to a royal source, the couple will approach their roles in a humble and modest way.
The source quotes, “The couple have focused on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will approach their roles in the modest and humble way they have approached their work previously.
The new Princess of Wales appreciates the history associated with this role but will understandably want to look to the future as she creates her own path.”
After receiving their new titles, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge changed their social media handles to reflect the change.
Their Instagram handle now reads, “@PrinceandPrincessofWales.”
In his speech, King Charles also referred to Harry and Meghan, expressing his love for them as they continue to build their lives overseas.
The King ended his speech with a touching tribute to his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, saying, “And to my darling Mama, as you begin your last great journey to join my dear late Papa, I want simply to say this, thank you.
Thank you for your love and devotion to our family and to the family of nations.
You have served so diligently all these years.
May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
After staying at Balmoral Castle in Scotland with other members of the royal family, including Prince William and Harry, King Charles returned to Buckingham Palace and greeted members of the public.
In a statement released shortly after the Queen's death, he expressed his deep sadness and the profound mourning felt by him and his family.
He also acknowledged the respect and affection in which the Queen was held throughout the country, realms, Commonwealth, and around the world.
As the new Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine will continue to inspire and lead national conversations, bringing important issues to the center ground where vital help can be given.
The couple will approach their roles with modesty and humility, deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time.
Their new titles reflect the history associated with the role but also signify the beginning of a new path as they create their own legacy.
