While both these pieces of lovely family news have reportedly delighted the Queen, they come amidst a difficult time for the royal family.

In a latest update on the Duke's health, the Palace said, “The Duke of Edinburgh remains at King Edward VII's hospital, where he is receiving medical attention for an infection.

He is comfortable and responding to treatment, but is not expected to leave the hospital for several days.”

The Queen has been keeping in touch with her husband through phone calls and video chats, according to sources.

Three days after Prince Philip's hospital admission, his grandson and Duchess Meghan confirmed that they would not be returning as working royals, after stepping back as senior members of the royal family last year.

It's understood that they were given a one-year review of their decision, with a deadline reportedly in March.

According to US Weekly's report, a source revealed, “It's been a rough few weeks for the Queen, that's for sure.

The situation with Harry and Meghan has been challenging, and on top of that, she is distraught over her beloved husband's health setback.”

Another Palace insider also alleged to the publication, “The Queen has had some tearful moments, mixed with anger and disappointment.

Emotions are definitely running high.”

On last Friday, a statement from the Palace said the royals were saddened by Meghan and Harry's decision, but that the Sussexes remain much-loved members of the family.

Meghan and Harry initially shocked the nation last year when they decided to step down from their royal duties.

As part of their deal with the Queen, the Sussexes agreed to have a 12-month review with the Palace.
