Queen Elizabeth II Kicks off Jubilee Celebrations with Star-Studded Horse Show

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations are underway, and the monarch kicked off the festivities by attending a star-studded horse show on Sunday night.

The event, called Gallop Through History, was held at the Royal Windsor Horse Show 2022, which came to a close with this spectacular show.

The 96-year-old monarch was the special guest of honour at the event, and spectators couldn't get enough of her incredible facial expressions.

She watched an all-star line-up, including Dame Helen Mirren, Tom Cruise, and Catherine Jenkins, perform alongside equestrian military and musical talent from all over the world.

Her Majesty seemed to love almost every moment of the impressive show, laughing, pointing, and clapping throughout.

However, there were some parts she seemed less keen on.

In one heartfelt moment during the show, TV presenter Alan Titchmarsh festooned the Queen with warm words.

He told her, “For 70 years, there's been one constant heartbeat of this nation, and that heart belongs to Her Majesty the Queen.”

Spontaneous applause then broke out, and the camera cut to the Royal.

The Queen appeared in agreement, and after looking at a friend, shrugged modestly.

During Dame Helen Mirren's portrayal of I, the camera panned to the guest of honour, who sat in the Royal box, and many viewers believed she didn't look too impressed.

One wrote on Twitter, “Not amused, judging by the Queen's expression after seeing Helen Mirren's depiction of Elizabeth I.”

Comedian Omid Dajili, who hosted the celebration in the role of Herald, joked about the fact that she was in the crowd but missed the State Opening of Parliament.

He quipped, “Your Royal Highness, on behalf of everyone here, we would like to thank you, very humbly, for picking us over the State Opening of Parliament.

You did the right thing, and I won £5 in a bet with my local kebab shop owner in Ipswich.”

He was met with applause from the audience, and thankfully when the camera panned to the Queen, it showed she'd also enjoyed the comment.

She was seen giving a very subtle smile before raising her arm in the air.

The Queen's enthusiastic and energetic appearance at the first of her national platinum jubilee celebrations has reassured tens of millions of Britons and subjects around the world of her health.

Despite royal aides who admitted that she is having good days and less good days, it all bodes well for the official weekend of jubilee events in June.

Knowing last night's event was being broadcast on ITV, it's no surprise that the Queen wanted to look her best.

For the show, she looked radiant, in a blue dress with a sparkly shawl and her trusted black leather shoes and handbag.

At one point, she was even caught reapplying her pink lipstick, seeming without even using a mirror.

Along with the show having many jolly moments, there was also one particular poignant segment that the Queen's youngest granddaughter took part in.

Lady Louise Windsor led a tribute to the Queen's late beloved husband, Prince Philip, and his love of carriage driving.

Louise entered the arena driving a carriage that used to belong to her late grandfather, who taught her the sport.

And when the camera cut to the Queen, she appeared emotional at the fitting tribute.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations will continue throughout the year, with events planned for June, including a service of thanksgiving for her remarkable 70-year reign and her traditional appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Colour.

However, palace aides admit she has good and less good days, and it is unlikely she will attend many other events.

Despite what they described as episodic mobility issues, the monarch is in good spirits and very much in charge behind the scenes, undertaking several meetings each week in addition to her familiar red boxes of official papers.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations are a testament to her unwavering commitment to her country and her people, and we look forward to seeing what else is in store for this remarkable monarch.
