Queen Elizabeth II Wears Engagement Brooch in Video Call with Health Officials

The Queen has made a touching gesture to her husband, Prince Philip, who is currently receiving treatment for a non-Covid infection in the hospital.

In her latest video call with four health officials leading the deployment of the Covid-19 vaccination across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the 94-year-old monarch was seen wearing a silver brooch from their engagement.

The diamond clematis brooch, which features six petals encrusted with diamonds and a single diamond in the centre of the piece, was a 21st birthday present from the royal household.

The black and white images from the special occasion show the then Princess Elizabeth wearing the six-petalled brooch next to her future husband.

Her decision to wear the engagement brooch during the video call was no doubt a subtle yet very sweet show of support for her husband.

The brooch was a beautiful addition to the Queen’s outfit, which also helped brighten up the call.

During the call, the Queen looked as radiant as ever and chatted with the officials about the Covid-19 vaccine.

She expressed her appreciation for the speed at which the vaccination program is being rolled out, stating that it is remarkable how quickly the whole thing has been done, and so many people have had the vaccine already.

The Queen also spoke about the importance of getting vaccinated and urged people to think about others rather than themselves.

She told the Chief Commercial Officer of the NHS in England, “Once you’ve had the vaccine, you have a feeling of, you know, you’re protected, which is, I think, very important.

I think the other thing is, that it is obviously difficult for people if they’ve never had a vaccine, but they ought to think about the other people rather than themselves.”

The Queen’s calm and bright demeanor during the video call, along with the lack of updates from the palace regarding Prince Philip’s condition, suggest that he is on track to make a recovery.

The Duke was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on February 16 as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell and walking into the building unaided.

Buckingham Palace did not disclose the reason for his admission at the time but have now revealed that he is being treated for an infection and is comfortable.
