Diana left Prince Harry a fortune of over $13 million

As per Prince Harry's recollection, the royal family cut him off financially in 2020, and he has since relied on the money he inherited from his mother, Princess Diana.

Harry told Oprah Winfrey that he ceased getting financial assistance “in the first quarter of 2020” in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first sit-down interview since stepping down as senior royals in January 2020.

He said of the couple's relocation to the United States, “I have what my mum left me and without that, we wouldn't have been able to do this.”

He went on to say, “It's like she saw it coming and she's been with us through this whole process,” adding, “Netflix and Spotify were never part of the plan.”

How much did Diana leave Harry?

According to different accounts, the inheritance started out at about $8.9 million and compounded with savings and interest on the principal.

At the age of 25, Harry and his brother, William, started collecting their inheritances, with the full sum coming by the age of 30, when the ginger-haired prince got about $13 million.

Jewels and other tangible assets

Lady Di penned an accompanying paper called the Letter of Wishes the day after she signed the initial will, detailing her wishes for her jewels and other personal belongings. According to the letter, 75 percent of these personal effects, known as “chattels” in the United Kingdom, would be equally divided between William and Harry. She reportedly claimed in the letter that she wished that one day her sons' future wives would be able to wear her jewels. The remaining 25% of the chattels were to be divided among her godchildren.
