Prince Harry arrives in the UK for his grandfather’s funeral

Prince Harry landed in the United Kingdom on Sunday in advance of his grandfather's funeral next week. Prince Philip died Friday morning at the age of 99, and Harry is scheduled to attend the funeral on April 17, after completing a five-day quarantine at Frogmore House in Windsor.

The Duke of Sussex arrived at Heathrow Airport earlier today, returning alone after his pregnant wife Meghan Markle was ruled out of travel by doctors.

According to The Sun, Prince Harry is believed to have been driven to Kensington Palace after his journey.

He will now spend time with family members who are mourning the loss of Prince Philip, who died on Friday at the age of 99.

After returning to the UK for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral, Prince Harry is assumed to be self-isolating only yards from his older brother, Prince William's, house.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, is to be quarantined for at least five days after landing at Heathrow Airport on Sunday on a British Airways flight from Los Angeles.

Buckingham Palace announced over the weekend that Harry, who now resides in California, will make the trip from there, representing his first visit to the nation after standing down as a senior royal a little more than a year ago.

According to People, the Duke of Sussex flew from California to Windsor two days after his grandfather's death was confirmed, where he was greeted by police and driven away in a black Range Rover.

Despite the fact that his royal rank reportedly exempts him from England's new quarantine laws, reports say he would ‘follow COVID-19 protocols for travel' by isolating himself for about five days until taking a private test.

Harry will not be able to fulfill the 10-day quarantine period until the funeral on Saturday, although the new coronavirus lockdown laws enable citizens to briefly escape their self-isolation on “compassionate grounds,” which includes a funeral.

Harry has not returned to the United Kingdom since March 2020, when he and Meghan Markle left their roles as senior royals at the Commonwealth Day service. Relationships between Harry and his family are said to be particularly strained in the wake of his and Meghan's interview with Oprah.

The funeral will be held at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday, April 17.

Meghan was unable to join the prince because she is heavily pregnant with the couple's second child, a girl.  ‘The Duchess has made every effort to travel alongside The Duke, but unfortunately, she did not receive medical clearance from her physician,' a source stated.
