According to specialists on body language, there may have been a longer-term reconciliation.

Prince Philip's funeral was held yesterday at Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel. Just 30 people were eligible to participate due to Covid limitations.

While Prince Harry and his brother came in with the parade, they were separated by cousin Peter Phillips.

The royal brothers seemed solemn when they arrived, and a body language specialist reflected on their encounters.

Judi James, a body language expert, believes the royals didn't talk before entering the chapel.

This seemed to change during the funeral, as they were seen departing together.

“Harry and William had shown no sign of contact before the service but as they walked out we could see Harry finally eye-checking his brother.”

The touching meeting was the first time the brothers have seen each other in person since Harry left the UK more than a year ago.

As the group departed the moving funeral, Harry was seen chatting with William and the Duchess of Cambridge after the emotional ceremony.

Kate retreated into the background, encouraging William and Harry to stroll side by side, conversing amicably along the way to their cars.

William has previously referred to his wife as the “peacemaker” between the boys – and this time she stood back to encourage William and his brother to talk.

“It looked like a conciliatory move by William to wait for Harry and allow him to catch up and chat to him and Kate. That could be a significant moment,” a royal source said.

“Harry appeared grateful for the opportunity, and Kate seemed to make a point of letting the brothers walk alone together, having briefly chatted to Harry as well.

“They have a lot to iron out and you would hope they continued their conversation back at Windsor Castle.

“It was only a few minutes in front of the cameras but it was warm and cordial. It appeared Charles paused and looked back to his sons together.

“Funerals have the ability to bring people together and I am sure that it would have warmed the heart of Prince Philip, if he could have seen that brief coming together.”
