Prince Charles Jokes About His Cheeky Grandchildren During Visit to Kew Gardens

has his hands full as a proud grandfather of three, and during a visit to Kew Gardens on Thursday, he hinted that his grandchildren can be rather cheeky.

The future king was presented with an Oriental beech sapling for his beech tree collection, but joked that it would need protecting from and , the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's two oldest children.

”I mustn't let my grandchildren get hold of this,” he said.

Aside from and , is also a granddad to baby who is too young to cause too much mischief in the garden right now but will be running around with his older siblings in no time.

During Charles' visit, he also met with Blue Peter presenters and six viewers who had won a competition to see him.

Presenter Radzi Chiniangania said afterwards that the prince watched Blue Peter when he was a boy, probably during the Valerie Singleton and John Noakes era.

”I was impressed he really had time for all the children and had a proper dialogue with all of them.”

Following the news of ' birth back in April, Charles released an incredibly sweet message to congratulate his son and daughter-in-law.

”We are both so pleased at the news.

It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don't know how I'm going to keep up with them,” he said.

The father-of-two has previously opened up about being a granddad, saying, ”It's a different part of your life.

The great thing is to encourage them, show them things to take their interest.

My grandmother did that, she was wonderful,” he added.

”It is very important to create a bond when they are very young.”

Charles last saw his grandchildren on Monday as the royal family attended Prince Louis' christening.

Princess Charlotte, known for stealing the show with her delightful royal wave and confident nature, showed off her good manners as she shared a polite handshake with the Archbishop of Canterbury as she arrived for her brother's christening.

William was holding Prince George and Princess Charlotte by the hand and could be heard encouraging them as they made their way to the chapel.

Charlotte gave a cheery wave as she walked towards the cameras while George looked more hesitant.

William encouraged George and Charlotte to shake hands with the Archbishop of Canterbury, before telling her, ”Well done.”

She also shared a handshake with the Dean of the Chapel Royal, the Right Reverend and Right Honourable The Lord Chartres before heading inside.
