Meanwhile, a fourth added, “Love this.

Proud of our royal family.”

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is currently running the Earthshot Prize, which aims to incentivise change and repair the planet over the next decade.

and Sir David Attenborough formally launched the award in October 2020 and it is dubbed the most prestigious global environment prize in history.

The project will see £50 million awarded over the next 10 years in the search for environmental solutions.

Speaking at the launch, William acknowledged that the initiative was certainly ambitious and said the idea had been 18 months in the making.

The Duke hoped that Earthshot would be a catalyst for environmental change and provide hope that things can improve.

He said, “We felt that the one piece of the jigsaw that was maybe missing was positivity.

I felt very much that there's a lot of people wanting to do many good things for the environment and what they need is a bit of a catalyst, a bit of hope, a bit of positivity that we can actually fix what's being presented.”

William, who also drew inspiration on the project from his father, warned that these are grave times for the environment.

He added, “We believe this decade is one of the most crucial decades for the environment.

And by 2030, we really hope to have made a huge stride in fixing some of the biggest problems on Earth.

We must have some hope.

We must have some optimism, because if we don't, it is all too much.

It is very apocalyptic about things.

These are grave times for the environment, but I do believe in human ingenuity, and I do believe in the younger generations speaking up as they are now that they will not stand for this lack of hope.”

The Earthshot Prize is centered on five so-called Earthshots.

They include protecting and restoring nature, cleaner air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing the climate.

The project seeks to find solutions to some of the world's greatest environmental problems by harnessing optimism and urgency.
