Queen Elizabeth II Finds Comfort in New Puppies After Prince Philip’s Passing

The world is still mourning the loss of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away peacefully on Friday at the age of 99.

His wife, II, who is known for her love of dogs, is said to be coping with her grief by spending time with her two new puppies.

The Queen had vowed not to get any more dogs after Vulcan, her dorgy, a dash-hound corgi cross, passed away last year, leaving her with just a single elderly dorgy called Cindy.

However, when Prince Philip was in hospital in February, it emerged that Her Majesty had acquired two new puppies, given names with special meanings to her.

Fergus, a dorgy, is named after her uncle Fergus Bowes-Leon, who fell in action during the First World War.

The second dog, Mewick, pronounced Mick, is a pure-breed corgi and named after Loch Mick, on the Balmoral Estate, a favourite picnic spot for the royals during their summer holiday.

According to royal biographer Penny Junor, the Queen's corgis are hugely important to her.

They have over the years been closer to her than any human being.

The corgis are intensely loyal and loving, and they have never let her down.

It is thought her two new dogs were gifts, and friends told the Mail on Sunday she uses them to help her cope with her grief following the passing of Prince Philip.

A source told the newspaper, the Queen was left with only one dog at the end of last year.

She had made the decision not to get any more because she didn't think it fair at her age.

But it would be unthinkable of her not to have any.

It's like the Tower of London not having any ravens.

The new puppies are adorable.

It is believed that the Queen was at the bedside of her beloved husband when he passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday morning, after becoming gravely ill late on Thursday.

The monarch is said to have been devastated after the passing of her husband, according to Closer Weekly.

A royal insider said, the Queen is absolutely heartbroken.

Engagements have been cancelled while she mourns.

Meanwhile, the Queen also got much comfort from her children, who are also all devastated.

was the first son to get to the castle to console the Queen on Friday morning and he was joined by Edward and then Charles.

Following a flurry of police activity at around 10.40am, Andrew, who lives closest at the Royal Lodge on the Windsor Estate, arrived at the back entrance to the Elizabeth's private apartments just five minutes later.

By 11.15am, another family member believed to be Edward had also arrived to be by his mother's side.

, facing a longer journey from Highgrove, his Gloucestershire estate, got to Windsor by Friday afternoon.

The Queen is known for her stoic nature, but the loss of her husband of 73 years has undoubtedly affected her deeply.
