Enraged Queen Elizabeth once threw shoes at Prince Philip

On their first tour of Australia in 1954, II and Prince Philip had a public spat.

The royals stunned the press as they noticed Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh feuding whilst in Victoria. The queen flung a pair of shoes and a tennis racket at Prince Philip at one point.

The Queen was seen swearing at Prince Philip and asking him to return after he stormed out of their villa. Her Majesty The Queen was able to entice Prince Philip back into their villa, but the event had already been filmed by cameraman Frank Bagnall.

The royal press secretary, Richard Colville, contacted the production crew and requested that the video be turned over to him. The Queen approached the press in a composed way a few minutes later.

“I'm sorry for that little interlude, but, as you know, it happens in every marriage. So, what do you want me to ?” she told them.

The public feud between the Queen and Prince Philip was portrayed in Netflix's hit series “The Crown,” featuring Claire Foy and Matt Smith.
