Harry once praised Prince Charles for being a good father

Prince Harry praised his father for making sure he and his brother Prince William were “protected and cared after” when their died – four years before accusing Charles of “total neglect” as a parent.

The Duke of Sussex said in the 2017 documentary Diana 7 Days that his father “tried to do his best” in the aftermath of the catastrophe.

Harry, then 32, recalled on the moment his father informed him and William that their mother Diana had died in a vehicle accident in Paris in the BBC documentary.

His comments seemed to contradict his previous explosive interviews in which he slammed his father's parenting style.

Harry accused the royals of “total neglect” for his mental health issues in his book The Me You Can't See, which was released last Friday.

He further alleged that when his mother died in 1997, Charles made him “suffer” by failing to “make it right” for him.

He singled out his father, the heir to the throne, accusing him of allowing the sons to “suffer” as children.

Harry also said on the Apple TV+ series that he would “never again be bullied into silence.”

Four years ago, Harry told the BBC: “One of the hardest things for a parent to have to do is tell your children that your other parent has died.

“How you deal with that, I don't know.

“But he was there for us. He was the one out of two left. And he tried to do his best and to make sure that we were protected and looked after.

“But he was going through the same grieving process as well.”

He had earlier said that no kid should be forced to participate in their mother's funeral procession, but he later changed his mind and told filmmakers: “Before I knew it I found myself with a suit on, with a black tie and white shirt, and I was part of it.

“Generally, I don't have an opinion on whether that was right or wrong. I'm glad I was part of it. Looking back on it now, I'm very glad I was part of it.”
