Netflix Pulls £112m Deal as Prince Harry Annoys Bosses by Leaking Secrets

and have reportedly annoyed Netflix bosses by giving bombshell interviews to other outlets despite signing a £112m deal with the streaming service in 2020.

Insiders claim there was a real sense of annoyance when Harry spoke to NBC exclusively about his private chat with the Queen, despite Netflix camera crews being with him.

Harry's own camera crew were shadowing him at the time as they were filming for Heart of Invictus, a documentary about his event for wounded and injured service personnel and veterans.

An insider told the Mail on Sunday that Netflix would have loved the first comments about the visit to the Queen for the documentary.

There was a real sense of annoyance that they were made to another broadcaster.

An industry expert commented, “Netflix is paying them millions and they're giving all their best interviews to other networks.

Trending:

Do they expect Netflix to be happy about that?”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are yet to release anything on the platform, and insiders reportedly fear tension could explode if the streaming service tries to exploit the Platinum Jubilee next month.

The couple also face pressure from Netflix as the streaming service giants demand content after children's program Pearl was axed last month.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express that it was clear the royals will face added pressure to produce more and probably more quickly for consumers.

At the time of announcing their deal with the company back in September 2020, Harry and Meghan said they will aim to produce documentaries, docuseries, feature films, scripted shows, and children's programs, all of which will aim to be inspirational.

However, Fitzwilliams confessed that it is unlikely the streaming service will be looking to invest in content focused around royal affairs.

He explained, “Clearly there will be pressure on Harry and Meghan to produce more and probably more quickly.

The problem is what?

It is unlikely to be linked to royal matters but it is urgent with so drastic a fall in Netflix's fortunes.”

The couple will return to the UK for the monarch's celebration, which marks her 70 years on the throne.

But it is feared that their deal with Netflix could cause problems if crew members push it to get access other royals are not comfortable with.

Yesterday it was announced that the couple would be barred from the palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour ceremony because they are not working royals.

In April, Harry told NBC journalist Hoda Kotb about his secret conversation with Her Majesty.

He told her, “Both Meg and I had tea with her.

It was really nice to catch up with her.

Being with her, it was great.

It was just so nice to see her.

You know she's on great form.

She's always got a great sense of humor with me.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been making headlines since they stepped down as senior members of the royal family last year.

Their interview with earlier this year caused controversy, and they have since signed deals with Spotify and Apple TV+.

It remains to be seen what content Harry and Meghan will produce for Netflix, but it is clear that they will need to deliver soon to keep the streaming giant happy.

With pressure mounting, the couple will need to strike a balance between producing engaging content and respecting their royal ties.
