Princess Diana’s Childhood Home Not Passed Down to Sons William and Harry
The childhood home of Princess Diana, Park House in Sandringham, Norfolk, has not been passed down to her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
The property was leased by Diana's family from Queen Elizabeth II as a symbol of the close relationship between the two families.
The Queen and her family, including Diana's future husband Prince Charles, often spent holidays at the nearby Sandringham House.
Diana grew up playing with Prince Andrew and Edward, who were closer in age to her.
All Thorpe House, the seat of the Spencer family, was passed down from Princess Diana's father to her younger brother Charles Spencer, following the family's tradition of passing inheritances through the eldest male heir.
This was the same tradition the royal family used to follow to determine the next heir in line to the throne before dropping that model to follow birth order instead.
Trending:
Charles Spencer is the current owner of All Thorpe House, and it is likely that one of his children will inherit the property before his nephews Prince William and Harry are even considered.
It is currently unknown whether Charles will follow his family's old tradition of passing his title, and thus All Thorpe House, to his first-born son, Louis Spencer, Viscount All Thorpe, but it seems likely.
Even if Louis weren't to inherit, Charles has another son and five daughters who are ahead of Diana's sons.
All Thorpe House is the final resting place for Princess Diana, so the property is undoubtedly a very important location for both William and Harry, even if they never inherit the grounds themselves.
Diana is buried on a small island at the center of an ornamental oval lake on the grounds, a place of perfect peace for the people's princess.
Meanwhile, Prince William is believed to have been feeling hurt after Harry's most recent interview, according to a royal expert.
In the interview, Harry claimed that his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, had done her bit for Prince William and it was her turn to focus on Harry and his family.
Harry said that Diana is in almost everything he does now, before adding that she's got him set up and now she's helping me set up, that's what it feels like.
He's got his kids, I've got my kids.
Royal expert Rebecca English claims that Harry's comments show a general level of resentment towards William.
Speaking on the Mail Plus Palace Confidential podcast, she said that rather than reconciliation, the visit and interview will only add to the sense of wariness that many members of the royal family have when it comes to Harry now.
The Prince of Wales is said to be at the end of his tether over this interview and Prince William will find particularly hurtful the comments Harry made about their late mother Diana.
Harry commented about how he feels Diana has done her a bit for William in looking after him and his children.
And now it's time she's focused on him, which is quite a peculiar thing to say.
I think it shows Harry's general level of resentment against his brother.
From William's point of view, in the past, he has made it clear that he finds this kind of attempt of ownership of his late mother quite crass.
He may find those frames particular.
The visit and interview will only add to the sense of wariness that many members of the royal family have when it comes to Harry now.
However, the Queen is very keen to keep lines of communication open with Harry.
She loves her grandson, and her ability to separate royal matters and family is remarkable.
