Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles were recently spotted enjoying the beautiful springtime at Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace and Clarence House released stunning photos of the monarch and her eldest son, taken by renowned photographer Chris Jackson, in the blossoming garden of Frogmore House.

The candid photos show the Queen and surrounded by vibrant daffodils and cherry trees in full bloom.

The Queen, who will turn 95 later this month, appeared to be in high spirits as she was pictured laughing alongside her son.

Her Majesty wore her signature cream headscarf and blue mittens, with her hands tucked into the pockets of her dark green cape coat.

Meanwhile, looked dashing in a beige overcoat with a pale blue shirt and a tie.

Frogmore House, which is low-lying and marshy, is known for its beautiful daffodils and attracts a preponderance of frogs.

The estate's ornamental lakes and small stone bridge provide a picturesque setting for a family picture.

In fact, a family photo featuring Philip, Anne, Andrew, Edward, and the Queen was taken at Frogmore House in 1968.

The Queen's Maundy Thursday service, which traditionally involves meeting recipients in person at a church service to distribute specially minted coins known as the Maundy Gift, was cancelled this year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Instead, the Maundy Gift and a letter from the Queen were delivered to the 190 recipients, one man and one woman for each of the Queen's 95 years, by post.

In her letter, the Queen expressed her sadness over the cancellation of the Maundy Thursday service, saying, “I am sure you will be sad, as I am, that present circumstances make it impossible for that service to take place.

I hope, however, that this Maundy Gift will remind you for years to come that your efforts have been truly appreciated.”

The recipients are pensioners who have been recognised by their communities for their outstanding contributions to their local church and community life.

Each recipient receives two purses, one red and one white, which have been blessed by the sub-dean at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace.

This year's coins have been newly minted to commemorate Her Majesty's 95th birthday in April and the 50th anniversary of Decimal Day.

The Queen and Prince Charles' recent outing at Frogmore House is a testament to their close relationship.

The candid photos show the Queen and her son enjoying each other's company and the beautiful springtime surroundings.

It is heartening to see the Queen, who has been isolating at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip, enjoying some much-needed time outdoors.
