Queen Elizabeth Celebrates 95th Birthday with Adorable Photo and Messages of Support

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 95th birthday on April 21st, marking the milestone with an adorable photo and messages of support following the recent loss of her beloved husband, Prince Philip.

The Queen's first birthday without her husband of 73 years was spent at Windsor Castle, where she is remaining to grieve during this period of royal mourning.

Buckingham Palace did not release any official new photographs of the Queen on this occasion, but the Royal Family's social media accounts shared a lovely one from last February, showing the Queen beaming in a plum coat and hat at a Royal engagement.

The post confirmed that Her Majesty is remaining at Windsor Castle to grieve for her late husband.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also re-shared the post on their social media pages instead of posting their own happy birthday messages.

The post read: “Today is the Queen's 95th birthday.

The Queen was born at 2.40am on the 21st of April 1926 at 17 Burton Street in Mayfair, London.

She was the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.”

Following the post, royal fans took the opportunity to wish the monarch a happy birthday and left messages to comfort the Queen.

One Twitter user commented, “We'd like to wish Queen Elizabeth II a happy 95th birthday.

In the toughest of times, we hope Her Majesty has a perfect day with loved ones.

We send our thoughts and best wishes.”

Another follower said, “Your Majesty, thinking of you today and wish you a happy birthday as is possible during this deeply sad time for you.”

A third expressed, “Thinking of you, Your Majesty on your birthday, but also whilst you are in mourning, all God's blessings.

Wishing you a happy birthday, Your Majesty.

Hope you try and have a lovely day.

The birthday came just days after the royal family bid a sad farewell to Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9 at the age of 99.

The royals paid their final respects to the family's patriarch at his funeral on Saturday at Windsor Castle.

Due to cruel coronavirus restrictions, the farewell was a royal funeral like no other, with the monarch sitting isolated and alone at the service in images that shocked the world.

Elizabeth, who is also the world's longest reigning monarch, will be at the castle for her birthday, which traditionally passes off with little or no ceremony.

This year there will be no gun salutes at the Tower of London, nor the Capitals Hyde Park, which usually occurs on the Queen's birthday.

The Queen also has an official birthday, which is usually celebrated with greater pomp on the second Saturday in June.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it is believed Her Majesty will enjoy a quiet lunch with close family members at Windsor Castle.

This will likely be outside due to the current rules.

The Queen is likely to spend the rest of the day doing the same things as usual.

It is said that she will be surrounded by the small number of staff who make up her bubble at the castle.

In a bid to keep Her Majesty company, the family have agreed a rotor to visit the Queen over the coming days to ensure that she is not left alone, according to reports.

Prince Anne and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, are reported to be among the Queen's first visitors.

Both women form part of a group of loyal, discreet and utterly trustworthy women of the Queen's inner circle who are offering crucial support as she faces life without her beloved Philip.

Also in this core group of confidants are the Queen's childhood friend, Lady Pamela Hicks and royal dresser Angela Kelly.

“Sophie is like another daughter to the Queen, they are that close,” said Mail Online's royal source.

“She is trusted and relied on like few others.”

She will also be visited by her son, Prince Andrew, and granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, in the coming days, the Mirror reported.

The Duchess of Cornwall is also expected to visit the Queen this week.

“The Queen will not be alone.

She will have others who care about her deeply and want to be there to support her in her most pressing hour,” a source told the Mirror.

It is also reported that the Queen is expected to have a video call with Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, to mark her birthday.

Sources told Mail Online that the monarch will also likely drive herself down to Frogmore to walk her new puppies, Fergus, a doggie, and Muck, a corgi.

The monarch got the new dogs around the time Prince Philip went into hospital, and they have been a great source of comfort since his passing.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has already sent his birthday wishes to the Queen, saying, “I would like to send my warm wishes to Her Majesty the Queen on her 95th birthday.

I have always had the highest admiration for Her Majesty and her service to the country and the Commonwealth.

I am proud to serve as her Prime Minister.”
