Princes William and Harry Share Heartbreaking Wish After Princess Diana’s Statue Unveiling

The world watched as the late was honoured on Thursday afternoon with the unveiling of a statue in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace.

The sculpture was revealed on what would have been her 60th birthday, and was commissioned by Princes William and Harry in 2017 to memorialise their mother and mark the 20th anniversary of her death.

The brothers wanted the statue to recognise their mother's positive impact in the UK and around the world, and to help future generations understand the significance of her place in history.

Following the unveiling, William and Harry shared a heartbreaking wish of their late mother, telling the world, “Every day, we wish she was still with us.”

On what would have been their mother's 60th birthday, William and Harry reflected on her love, strength, and character, qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.

They expressed their hope that the statue would be seen forever as a symbol of her life and legacy.

The design of the statue, created by sculptor Ian Rank Broadley, whose portrait of the Queen features on all UK coins, was kept secret ahead of the ceremony.

It has been erected in Kensington Palace's Sunken Garden, one of Diana's favourite places at the palace where she lived for 16 years, which has been filled with more than 4,000 flowers.

Royal fans were full of praise for the statue of the late Princess after it was unveiled by her sons.

Kayla Adams added, “Lovely tribute to their mother.

I love that it's at Kensington Palace so it can be visited by guests and the family all the time.”

At Lulu La Ten, there was gushing praise, “A wonderful job in creating this sculpture.

Cannot wait to visit it when back in the UK next year.

Just beautiful.”

The statue was a fitting tribute to Princess Diana, who was known for her compassion and dedication to humanitarian causes.

The brothers hoped that it would allow visitors to reflect on the life and legacy of their late mother, who died in 1997.
